Project Description

H&H routinely conducts risk assessments for dry-cleaning sites under a state dry-cleaning site clean-up program. The risk assessment process is an integral part of guiding site cleanup for each dry-cleaning site, and we are currently working on more than 70 sites. H&H develops a site-specific exposure model identifying all complete exposure pathways under current and reasonable future conditions. Representative contaminant concentrations for each exposure domain are compared to generic or, as necessary, site-specific screening levels. Vapor intrusion is considered in the risk assessment process. H&H staff are experienced with using site-specific fate and transport models to tailor the risk assessment. The state has closed seven sites based on H&H’s risk evaluation, even though groundwater impacts remain above published standards.
