How We Give Back To Our Community
Our success has allowed us the ability to share our time and resources with the community in several ways. We believe that there is more than one way to support your community, therefore, we are long-time supporters of several charitable organizations and annual events in our communities:
YWCA Central Carolinas
YWCA Central Carolinas provides support and housing for women and families in need, with a goal of eliminating racism, empowering women, strengthening youth and families, and working toward racial justice. Hart & Hickman is long-time sponsor of the YWCA’s We Believe annual fund raiser luncheon, raising $1,000s each year, introducing new supporters to their mission, and historically providing volunteer support for the children at the Y’s Southside After School Child Care program.Catawba Lands Conservancy
Catawba Lands Conservancy is a nonprofit land trust that works with willing landowners to save undeveloped land in North Carolina’s Southern Piedmont. The Conservancy’s crowning achievement is the Carolina Thread Trail, which invites people outdoors to hike, bike, paddle and play on a 15-county network of trails and greenways that will ultimately connect more than 2 million people in the Carolinas. Classroom Central serves more than 127,000 students and their teachers across 6 school districts in 199 high-poverty schools in the Charlotte region. Their mission is to equip students living in poverty to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies. For thousands, basic learning tools are a luxury. In fact, more than 50% of the students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Iredell-Statesville, City of Kannapolis, Union, Gaston, and Lancaster, SC school districts come from families that can’t afford lunch, let alone school supplies.
Moved by this need and the fact that teachers, on average, spend $500 – $1000 out of their own pockets each year to provide basic supplies for their students, Classroom Central was founded in 2002. Hart & Hickman PC is a proud sponsor of their efforts to serve our local community.
Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan’s Purse impacts the lives of vulnerable children through educational, feeding, clothing, and shelter programs and help them break the cycle of poverty. We encourage you to consider offering your support to this committed organization.Hart & Hickman has served almost 1000 children through this outreach and have volunteered in teams at the shipping facility to screen, fill, and ship gift-filled shoeboxes as part of their annual year-end event.
Hart & Hickman also provides donations annually to support environmental and water quality projects through Samaritan’s Purse, including water supply wells, water filtrations systems, disease prevention measures, and sustainable farming initiatives.
Hart & Hickman is also proud to sponsor college students pursuing degrees in engineering and environmental science in the Dominican Republic and Botswana.
Angel Tree
Angel Tree provides gifts to children living in poverty in the Charlotte and Raleigh metropolitan areas. Hart & Hickman sponsors shopping annually for our staff to buy gifts the children have asked for, which most often include books, toys, and clothing.
