What Do We Look For in an Environmental Solutions Applicant?
A solid academic background with a passion for technical excellence, quality, and client service is a must in any candidate. Our team looks for individuals with a focused commitment to their work and a desire to expand and challenge their technical abilities every day. It is also imperative that our staff bring a fun, energetic approach to their work, and support and encourage their peers.
Our Application Process
The rumors are true – We do not compromise when it comes to quality, and our recruiting efforts are no exception. We are in search of environmental professionals who are driven, motivated, and passionate about advancing their careers. Hart & Hickman will provide training, project experience, supportive work environment, and exposure to a diverse project portfolio that will serve as a platform to assist our clients in solving environmental challenges they encounter.
First Step – The Application
Please submit your cover letter and resume to the respective job in our career portal. Your cover letter should help us understand how your skills align with our opening. You will also be asked to complete a very brief questionnaire when you submit your qualifications.
Second Step – The Phone Interview
If we feel as though you may be a good fit, you will receive a phone call from one of our professionals to discuss your qualifications. A successful call is central to being considered for an interview, so be prepared, prompt, and attentive, as this call communicates your ability to effectively organize your thoughts, convey appropriate confidence, and demonstrate the fact that you would be enjoyable to work with.
Third Step – Next Steps
If the call goes well, we will ask you to complete our “Next Steps”, which typically includes an unofficial academic transcript, writing examples, and an online profile to help us know where you might fit best into our organization. We use this profile to help with internal career and leadership development. We will let you know via email or phone if we wish to have you come see us for an interview.
Fourth Step – The Face-to-Face Interview
Congratulations! We’ve invited you in for an interview. This is an opportunity to get to know us and for us to get to know you.
Here is what else you can expect during your face-to-face meeting:
You will meet with more than one person, each with a different approach and interest. We usually ask candidates to run through simulations requiring attention to detail, grasp of environmental fundamentals, and technical writing skills. Those are just the highlights, let your qualifications and confidence speak for you as well. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you.
