Hart & Hickman was selected to assist a major municipality in North Carolina with their $400,000 petroleum/hazardous substance assessment grant. H&H’s expertise and regulatory relationships managing Brownfield grant projects quickly became evident to the City. After a year of grant activities, the City opted to increase H&H’s contract. H&H has completed several Phase I and II ESAs and has facilitated the entrance of two properties into the DEQ Brownfield Program. These properties are proposed to be used for a light rail station and an emergency call center. Under the EPA grant, H&H is developing cleanup and redevelopment plans for a large former missile plant in coordination with a local developer and planning group.
