Steven Hart

Steven Hart, PG is the Principal Hydrogeologist with Hart & Hickman, PC. Steve has 30 years of experience in all facets of soil and groundwater assessment and remediation at sites throughout the United States. He is frequently retained as an expert in environmental litigation cases in State and Federal courts in the areas of contaminant fate and transport, source identification, and soil and groundwater assessment and remediation. His practice also involves complex site strategy development and implementation, peer reviews, Brownfields redevelopment, impacted property transfer solutions, and environmental liability risk transfer. Steve has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University. Steve is married and has two children (one a fellow Wahoo and the other a Horned Frog) and two rescue pets. In his spare time, Steve enjoys traveling with his family, playing soccer, hiking, landscaping, and building or repair projects.

Christie Zawtocki

Christie Zawtocki, PE is a Principal with Hart & Hickman, PC in the Charlotte, NC office. Christie has over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting focused primarily on assessment, remediation, and environmental compliance projects at sites impacted by chlorinated solvents, perchlorate, heavy metals, petroleum products, pesticides, and herbicides. She has specialized expertise with remedial alternatives evaluations, risk-based cleanup evaluations, field pilot studies, and implementation of remediation strategies. She is also extensively involved with assessment and mitigation of vapor intrusion. Christie has a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. Christie is married with two children. She enjoys skiing, traveling, and cheering her children on in their many athletic events.

Matt Bramblett, PE is a Principal with Hart & Hickman, PC in the Charlotte, NC office. Matt has over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting. He specializes in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, vapor intrusion, Brownfields redevelopment, contaminant fate and transport, environmental compliance, and wetlands permitting. He is currently working on contaminated sites involving polychlorinated biphenyls, chlorinated pesticides, chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, PFAS, and other contaminants. Matt has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Asheville and a master’s degree from Clemson University. Matt is married and has two wonderful daughters. He enjoys treasure hunting and anything outdoors.

Bruce Hickman

Professional Engineer

Bruce Hickman, PE has over 35 years of experience in environmental consulting and engineering services, with specializations in environmental assessment and remediation for RCRA facilities, CERCLA Superfund properties, and EPA grant-funded Brownfields. Before co-founding Hart & Hickman, PC in 1995, Bruce’s work spanned from the US to South America and the China Seas as a facilities design engineer in the oil patch, as a remediation technology development engineer with ENSR, and as a remediation specialist with Dames & Moore. At Hart & Hickman, he has served in a technical role on key projects as far reaching as Malaysia, while helping to manage the firm’s operations and strategic efforts. His focus now is to mentor and encourage the firm’s next generation of leaders to build on the firm’s solid reputation as a highly regarded, growing team of expert environmental consulting professionals. Bruce and his family enjoy hiking, biking, and a host of other outdoor joys.

Matt Ingalls

Matt Ingalls is a Project Manager and a Hart & Hickman shareholder based out of the Charlotte office.  Matt has over 20 years experience as an environmental consultant focusing on client management and services related to Phase I and II due diligence, wetland delineation and permitting, asbestos, and Brownfield projects.  Matt maintains licenses as an asbestos inspector, management planner and wetland delineator. He attended North Carolina State University and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Environmental Design. Matt is married to Amy and has two children, Renny and Patrick, and he enjoys outdoor activities including swimming, paddling sports, and fishing.

Shannon Cottrill

Shannon Cottrill is a Project Manager and the Corporate Health & Safety Officer with Hart & Hickman, PC in the Charlotte office. Shannon has over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and over 15 years of experience in safety management. He specializes in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation, Brownfields redevelopment, Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) projects, environmental compliance, and mold and indoor air quality. He also has extensive experience in developing and implementing site-specific health and safety plans for assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, and development and implementation of firm-wide health and safety plans, policies, and programs. Shannon has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from West Virginia University. Shannon is married and is blessed with a wonderful son. He enjoys fishing and is a sports enthusiast.

Nathan O’Leary

Project Manager

Nathan graduated from Iowa State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in environmental science. Since graduating, Nathan has worked for consulting firms in New Jersey, Iowa, and North Carolina and was fortunate enough to join Hart & Hickman in 2010. Throughout his career, Nathan has worked on due diligence, compliance, site assessment, site remediation, Brownfields, and state-lead projects across the country and most often in California, Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The aspect that Nathan enjoys most about his career at Hart & Hickman is the range and volume of projects and the opportunities that it presents for professional growth. Nathan has been married to his amazing wife Karen for almost 10 years and is lucky to be the father of two beautiful and hilarious girls Kaia and Sydney. In his free time, Nathan enjoys gardening and yard work, hiking, reading, fishing, disc golf, and spending time with his family. Fun fact – Nathan is an Olympic curler stuck in a consultants body.

Ralph McGee, PG is a Senior Project Geologist with Hart & Hickman, PC. Ralph has been in our Charlotte, NC office for over six years and specializes in Brownfields redevelopment, due diligence, soil and groundwater assessment, vapor intrusion, and contaminant fate and transport. He is currently working on several high-profile redevelopment projects throughout the southeast including sites impacted with polychlorinated biphenyls, chlorinated pesticides, chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and other contaminants. Ralph is a cum laude graduate with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Ralph enjoys spending quality outdoor time with his two sons including kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and almost every other outdoor activity he can convince them to try.

He specializes in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects. He is currently working on contaminated sites with chlorinated solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, metals, and chlorinated pesticides. Jason has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from East Carolina University. He is married and has two sons and a daughter. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.

Genna Olson

Raleigh Branch Manager

Project Manager

Genna Olson is a licensed geologist in multiple states, a Registered Site Manager in NC, and a proud graduate of NC State University. She has over 20 years of experience in the fields of environmental hydrogeology and contamination assessment and remediation. Her experience includes assessment, remediation, and monitoring for a wide variety of sites and contaminant sources, as well as specialized expertise in vapor intrusion and risk assessment. Genna is the author of the Risk Assessment Calculator, which was recently released by the NCDEQ for use under risk-based remediation options in NC. In her spare time, Genna can often be found cleaning up messes created by her two wild and crazy young boys or attempting DIY home renovations.
