Project Description

Hart & Hickman recently completed Phase I and II ESA activities on a 289-acre land parcel located in York County, South Carolina.  The site was comprised of undeveloped wooded and cleared land near a major river.  During Phase I ESA activities, H&H identified a debris disposal area that consisted of unmarked drums, scrap metal, industrial debris, tires, and abandoned automobile parts.  H&H conducted Phase II ESA soil sampling activities below the discarded items and detected elevated concentrations of metals and petroleum contamination in shallow soil samples. The property owner removed the debris, excavated impacted soil, and changed the property boundary to exclude the former debris area prior to sale of the property.
