Project Description

Hart & Hickman performed an extensive assessment and remediation of 15,000 tons of lead-contaminated soil resulting from historical manufacturing at a facility operated between 1905 and 1935. Assessment activities were conducted to accurately characterize the conditions and associated risks at the property using a cost-saving combination of field XRF and lab analyses. The site-specific risk-based action levels were derived by the H&H team in concert with State and EPA approval. By applying EPA RAGs guidelines and appropriate exposure scenario criteria, the action level allowed for a remediation cost savings of $100,000s. The remedy was executed over a 12-week period and involved on-site stabilization and off-site disposal of 15,000 tons of lead-impacted soil rendered non-hazardous by the stabilization treatment.
